Nipawin Journal — Welcome to the PEACE 100 Snowmobile Rally Congratulations to both the Nipawin Elks and the Nipawin Royal Purple Lodges for again hosting this, the 16th annual PEACE 100 Snowmobile Rally.

This continues to be a major project of the Saskatchewan Elks and Royal Purple Associations. The PEACE 100 is an excellent example of community partnerships wherein we have Police and Elks Assisting Community Education.

Through this partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, we can help deliver education programs to young people that can and does make a difference in their lives. On behalf of Elks of Canada and on behalf of the parents of children in Saskatchewan, we extend our sincere thanks to all of you who have helped raise funds for the PEACE 100 Snowmobile Rally.

Whether you have sold tickets, are a participant, an organizer or a contributor, we thank you for making a difference in the lives of our children. We know all the proceeds support several drug awareness programs within the province.

We all know the effect of substance abuse and the accompanying violence associated.
The message “DARE to Resist Drugs and Violence” is certainly one which needs to be promoted in our fight against substance abuse in our communities.

To all the participants of the PEACE 100 Rally, I, on behalf of the Elks of Canada, wish you all a fun-filled safe weekend.
Take pride in knowing that you have contributed to the well being of our greatest resource - our children - and helped make this province a safer and better place to live.

The Elks, the Royal Purple and our Police are committed to working together to help our children combat the dangers of addictions and provide them with the tools to resist drugs and violence. You have helped us carry on this struggle! Mark Montgomery Grand Exalted Ruler

BENEFITS OF RIDING A GROOMED TRAIL
February 2005

Better Fuel Economy. You will ride 15 to 25 more kilometers per tank of fuel.

Safer for you and your sled. Less risk of an accident and subsequent damage to you or your sled. This will save in insurance claims and less hospital bills.

Groomed trails are less harsh on your snowmobile; therefore, less repair costs associated with groomed trails because they are smoother to ride on and give you a more comfortable ride.

You do not always need a guide to take you somewhere. You just have to follow the signs (this depends on how well the clubs sign their trail which is a function of volunteer help and money available).

Travel more kilometers in a day on groomed trails because the trails are easier on your body and snowmobile.

Groomed trails do not have trees and debris blocking the trail so you can get where you want to go.

Warmup shelters are strategically located along the trail system. You can take advantage of these shelters to warm up and even cook your trail lunch.

2006-03-20; Robbie Malinoski’s rollercoaster season came to end on the pinnacle Sunday as the Humboldt, Saskatchewan native clinched both the Pro Open and Pro Stock Drivers Championships for the 2005-2006 WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour.

Malinoski (No. 4 Olah Racing/Arctic Cat) finished fifth in both the Pro Open and Pro Stock finals during the Nielsen Enterprises Grand Finale at the Grand Geneva Resort and Spa to net the titles.

Ross Martin (No. 837 Judnick Motorsports-Dupont/Polaris) finished second in both classes, capping a Cinderella rookie season for the Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin resident. Martin and Malinoski fought it out through the waning races of the 2005-2006 season. Malinoski had one victory and a second-place finish in Pro Open. He also netted a single victory in Pro Stock, as well as two runner-up efforts. Though Martin’s two victories in each class and five overall podiums showcased a dominant effort, in the end, Malinoski’s consistent qualifying efforts paid off.

“It hasn’t completely soaked in yet,” said Malinoski. “This is just a big weight off of my shoulders. The crew really deserves this. They worked their tails off this season to make this happen. Last year, we came close but we had a couple of mechanical problems and that set us back. Ross Martin had a few bad days with mechanicals. I know what he’s going through, but he’ll come back strong just like we did this year.
