Teen injured in snowmobile crash.
DIAMOND LAKE: A Cottage Grove teen was injured Sunday when the snowmobile she was riding near Diamond Lake crashed into a tree. Kyrstin L. Needham, 13, was driving a snowmobile on a trail with her parents at 1:54 p.m. around Highway 138 near Milepost 83 when the accident occurred. When the snowmobile struck the tree, Needham hit the handlebars and then a snow bank, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. She was airlifted by a Mercy Flights helicopter to a hospital in Eugene for chest, neck and back injuries. Her condition was unavailable this morning. Chemult Ambulance, Diamond Lake Resort employees

SNOW BLAST: The resort's annual Snow Blast will be Saturday, with a coin hunt for ages 9 and younger, a dummy downhill (a dummy racer on skis or a snowboard), mountain bike races on the snow, a big air and best-trick contest (helmets required), a disc jockey until the lifts close at 5 p.m., live music from 5 to 8 p.m. by Jimmy Lloyd Rae in the lodge at the Starbottle Saloon), an outdoor bonfire and a fireworks after dark.
